Auto-detection of Heterogeneous Areas in Radiometric Normalization
نویسندگان
چکیده
Due to the difference in illumination condition, atmosphere condition, shooting angle and other inner and outer factors, there are differences in radiometry between different optical remote sensing images. The radiometric differences will affect the mosaic result and further affect some applications. To minimize such radiometric differences, radiometric normalization between images is a useful pre-processing step. However, there are often some heterogeneous areas in images. They are harmful to the radiometric normalization and even lead to the failure of the radiometric normalization. So it is necessary to detect these areas automatically. In order to achieve a more accurate result about the heterogeneous areas at the given scale, this paper based on the idea of SR (Super resolution) proposals an auto-detection method for heterogeneous areas using texture information. Then those heterogeneous areas are excluded during the generation of statistics for the radiometric normalization. Experiments indicate the approach proposed by this paper is feasible and the effect of radiometric normalization is also improved obviously. * Corresponding author. Automatic Relative Radiometric Normalization for Change Detection of Satellite Imagery
Several relative radiometric normalization (RRN) techniques have been proposed till date most of which involve selection of pseudo invariant features whose reflectance are nearly invariant from image to image and are independent of seasonal cycles. Extraction of such points is quiet tedious and human operator has to provide mutual correspondence by choosing easily recognizable and time invarian...

متن کاملTechnical Note Use of ordinal conversion for radiometric normalization and change detection
Change detection studies in remote sensing operate with the notion that a quantifiable difference in an object’s spectral value, from one time period to another, represents a physical change on the ground. To confound this premise, other factors, such as atmospheric conditions and illumination geometry, can influence an object’s spectral response. For this reason, a common first step in digital...
متن کاملRadiometric Normalization of Multi-temporal High Resolution Satellite Images with Quality Control for Land Cover Change Detection
The radiometric normalization of multi-temporal satellite optical images of the same terrain is necessary for land cover change detection e.g. relative differences. In previous studies, ground reference data or pseudo invariant features (PIFs) were used in the radiometric rectification of multi-temporal images. Ground reference data are costly and difficult to acquire for most satellite remotel...
